February 14th
This has been a wonderful Valentine’s Day. I am in Arizona enjoying the warm weather. I spent the night at my brother’s house last night and had a great time visiting with him and his friends. Late afternoon, I drove to Tempe, AZ, to ref a show at The Sets. WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts and I caught up on things and I got to meet a lot of fans.
February 15th
I woke up at 6:30am so I would have time to visit Sedona, AZ, before I fly back to MN.
Sedona is one of the most beautiful places on earth!! I looked at the real estate market and found I could buy a mobile home on 1/8 of an acre lot for $399,000- ouch.
Maybe I will stay in MN for now. :-)
February 16th
A female wrestler by the name of Rain and ring photographer Wayne McCarty met at my house bright and early for the road trip to Minot. We picked up The Anarchist Arik Cannon and Ann Thraxx and then headed up to Central MN where we met up with wrestler Benjamin Sailer.
The 9 hour trip flew by. We all told wrestling stories and jokes- just the way road trips were meant to be. I was so glad I got a chance to know everyone better, they are all great people.
We went right to the XJAM show. The temp was minus 43 degrees, quite a contrast from AZ.
That night after the show, a few of us went to Denny’s. We met up with a few Canadians including wrestler Mentallo (who happens to be way too handsome for a mask). I went to sleep around 4am.
February 17th
I got a chance to visit with Lenny Lane when I saw him at a restaurant near the hotel. Back in WCW they used to say I looked like I could be his sister and I should be called Penny Lane. In fact, Billy Kidman used to introduce me to the Mexican wrestlers as Penny. I refereed Rain vs. Ann Thraxx. The fans were really into their match. After the show we went back to the hotel to shower then drove through the night to make it back to MN by 9am. Benjamin Sailer, Arik Cannon and Ann Thraxx all had a show that night in Iowa we split up, and I went home to catch up on sleep.
This road trip was the most fun I have had in a long time. I recommend looking up these independent wrestlers online- Rain, Ann Thraxx, Mentallo, Benjamin Sailer, and The Anarchist Arik Cannon. If they have merchandise for sale, please support the dream they are pursuing and buy a 8×10, t-shirt or DVD.
