Molly’s Ready For ‘Mania
March 2004

Molly Holly’s not ready to lose her beautiful dark mane at WrestleMania. The darling Diva realizes exactly how important her upcoming hair vs. title match is, and she’s taking the necessary steps to ensure she leaves Madison Square Garden with a full head of hair and the Women’s Championship around her waist.

“I’ve been training really hard down in OVW with their trainer Danny Davis,” says Molly. “I’ve been going over my moves, learning some new stuff, and getting myself prepared for this match.”

“Another thing I’ve been doing to prepare is watching a lot of old tapes,” admits Molly. “Quite a bit of stuff from Japan as well as some WWE tapes from the 1980s. It’s always good to review the fundamentals, and also get some new perspectives on things.”

Considering the wild stipulations of her impending encounter, one would think that Molly would be reviewing the hair vs. hair match between Adorable Adrian Adonis and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper at the third WrestleMania.

“Actually my favorite match at WrestleMania III would be the one between Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat and Randy Savage,” says Molly. “That’s something where when I very first started wrestling, I studied that match a lot, you know there’s 22 near finishes in there and both of those guys were so evenly matched. It’s definitely one of my favorites.”

With all of her preparation, Molly has maintained a positive attitude, and after defeating Lita this past week on RAW, she’s already on a roll she hopes will continue right through this year’s gala-event.

“I haven’t purchased any wigs, because I think that would be setting my self up for failure,” says Molly. “I know people are probably expecting me to be nervous, considering that anything can happen in WWE, and there is a chance that I will get my head shaved, but I’m trying to stay positive and trust that I’m good enough to win. I mean I was the longest reigning Women’s Champion in the modern era, and I think that I’m certainly qualified to regain the Women’s Championship and that’s what I plan to do.”

Being that WrestleMania is emanating from the World’s Most Famous Arena, this year’s event has a special meaning to Molly.

“Because this is the home of the first, tenth and twentieth, combined with the fact that Madison Square Garden means so much to the McMahon family, for me to be able to be a part of this show makes it very special to me as well.”

For those keeping track, Molly made her first WrestleMania appearance at WrestleMania X8, when she defeated the Hurricane for the now-defunct Hardcore Title under the 24/7 rules. However, her title shot against Victoria this Sunday will mark her in-ring debut.

“I’m extremely excited because this is my first actual WrestleMania match, and it’s definitely something that’s always been a dream of mine. I’m looking forward to it, and despite the stipulations, I can’t wait.”
